Shea’s Performing Arts Center
Shea’s Performing Arts Center began in 1926 as a movie theater built by Michael Shea. Today, they are a campus comprised of three theaters in the Buffalo Theatre District, bringing live performance to Western New York through touring productions and local collaborations.
In 1998, Progressive Roofing undertook a significant endeavor, installing the roof on Shea’s stagehouse expansion project. This project allowed Shea’s to accommodate travelling Broadway shows, ensuring that the magic of live performances would continue to grace our city for decades to come.

Buffalo Niagara International Airport
What is now Buffalo Niagara International Airport was first created in 1926 when a group of aviation enthusiasts convinced City of Buffalo officials that an airport was an indispensable element for any city intent on industrial and commercial growth. Two hundred acres of Cheektowaga farmland were purchased in 1925 to build the Buffalo Municipal Airport. One hundred years and 1,000 acres later, today’s Buffalo Niagara International Airport has up to 100 nonstop daily flights, serving 31 airport destinations and beyond.
Progressive Roofing played a crucial role in the airport’s evolution. Before it was the single stand-alone passenger terminal that it is today, the former Greater Buffalo International Airport comprised an East and West Terminal. Inthe late 1990s, the Airport renovated its two separate terminals into one larger terminal. In 1998, Progressive Roofing finished installing a Sarnafil Roofing System on the West Concourse of that new larger terminal, indirectlycontributing to our community’s continued growth and prosperity.

The Buffalo Zoo
The Buffalo Zoo, a living testament to the city’s commitment to wildlife conservation, traces its roots back to 1870 when Jacob E. Bergtold, a prominent furrier, presented a pair of deer to the City of Buffalo. In the 1930s, the Zoo boasted the finest animal collection in the country. However, during the 1980s and 1990s, the Zoo truly evolved, shifting its focus towards breeding and reproducing rare and endangered species. This dedication led to creating today’s realistic, immersive animal enclosures that take visitors on a journey worldwide, including Rainforest Falls, Heritage Farm, and Arctic Edge.
Progressive Roofing has had the unique opportunity to work with the Buffalo Zoo over the years. In 2001, we replaced the Giraffe House roof with a BURmastic 200 System, which required creative problem-solving and a “stretch” of the imagination. In 2019, we re-roofed the Gorilla House with an AlphaGuard MT+ System, which was such an ape-pealing job that we hope towork with the Zoo again someday!
